2021 CHAMPIONSHIP UPDATE
What a game, going down to the very last bowl. In the Final of the Fours we saw the team of Louis Galea, Ray Burnett, Marty Baker and Rod Fielding win with a one shot win over Viv Hudson, Dennis Riddell, Wayne Cox and Dave Blackburn in a game played in the true spirit of sportsmanship and camaraderie.
Paul Faorlin has extended his Championship form with a hard earned win over Ben Renshall in the Consistency Singles Final. Ben playing in his first year of competitive bowls made Paul use all his experience for him to win in what was a quality game to watch.
Once again we saw the Jan Layton and Paul Faorlin combination prove their dominance in the Mixed Pairs Final with a win over Frank Sherry and Betty Packer. It was good to see rookie bowler Frank make a final in his very first year.
In a game played in Good Spirits and Sportsmanship Ben Renshall and Jeff Nunn played more consistently under the conditions in the Major Pairs Final to beat the team of Rod Fielding and Marty Baker in what saw some high quality bowls played.
Paul Faorlin has retained his Major Singles title with a hard earned win over a tenacious Marty Baker in a enthralling game played under very testing weather conditions with both bowlers playing some outstanding bowls.
This year saw the introduction of the Minor Pairs to the Championship Calendar. In a very seesawing final the team of Eddie Alley and Louis Galea held off the never say die team of Ben Treu and Graham Barnard to be crowned 2021 Champion’s.
Michael Berwick Snr has been crowned our 2021 Minor Singles Champion with a tenacious win over Louis Galea. Both bowlers performed strongly with Michael coming out on top 31 to 28.
Congratulations to the team of Bill Walton, Peter Mclennan and Peter Embleton who have defended there 2020 Triples title with a close and hard fought win over Keith Weller, Ian Burr and Vic Cohen 24 to 21 to be Club 2021 Triples Champions.
The President Set Singles saw Chuc Nguyen win his first Club title in a closely contested game over club stalwart Kirk Letham.
