Pennants

2021 Season Wrap

Div 2 having lost several bowlers from last year went through the season with some inconsistent results. The team on any day was hard to beat and lost several masterboards by the barest of margins. The competitive nature of the team was evident by its win over eventual flag winners Austral. With the blooding of some new bowlers to the top grade during the season the team should only be stronger in 2022.

Div 4 had a very up and down season having been forced by the zone to go up a grade. With a lot of player movement throughout the competition the team struggled for consistency but were always a threat to opposition  teams. They beat sections winners Picton 9-1 in the regular season and had several bowlers play in their very first pennant games during the season.

Div 7 Sec 1 what a result!! Zone Pennant Champions 2021 now off to the State Finals in Kiama from the 16th to 18th July. Had  to win on the last day of the season to make playoffs and did so very convincingly. Won the zone playoffs with 2 solid performances over their opposition to claim a well deserved title. A blend of very experienced old heads sprinkled with some very keen team players.

Div 7 Sec 2 narrowly missed the playoff end of the season. Had a big win over section winners Penrith 9-1 and gave it a really good crack during the season. A team made up of club stalwarts who were ably supported by many of our lady bowlers for the first time showing that collectively they were up to the challenge week in week out.

Big shout out to our selectors Ken, Vic and Marty for your bravery and courage in team selections. The club was competitive and with a little bit of luck on some days, who knows what may have been.

To the club umpires especially Keith and Dawn who officiated without fuss and in a very professional manner, thankyou!

A  huge Shout Out to all the ladies who kept us and our opposition well fed with High Tea each week .

This was the first year that we had the ladies bowl with us and it was a resounding success. From the Div 4 to the Div 7 teams it enabled more bowlers to get a game week to week.

It is important to have good team manager’s and the club is very fortunate to have 2 of the best in Wendy and TJ who continue to do a sterling job for their teams. Keep up the great work.
