History
The Blacktown Men’s Bowling Club was founded in 1969 at a meeting attended by 21 enthusiastic members who voted to form an outdoor bowling club with Val Montiglio as the inaugural president.
In its early inception the Bowls club had no greens of their own and therefore were reliant on other local bowling clubs such Blacktown City, Toongabbie, Riverstone and Blacktown Diggers in order to play. That was up until 1976 when the Blacktown Workers Club built its first green. In 1997 work was completed at the club which resulted in the moving of the two greens to their current location today and the unfortunate removal of the original old Tin Shed. 2014 saw the club grow with the opening of a third bowling green.
Throughout the club’s history the men have won numerous Pennant Flags and Individual and Team Zone Competitions – see our Pennant’s page for the Flags that we have won. While also being competitive in competitions the club has also being involved in raising funds for the CWA Drought Appeal, the every popular Dry July as well as being an active supporter of Blacktown City Lantern, who fund various community charities such as the North Rocks Institute for the Deaf and Blind
